Obviously it's been a while since I've written,
which is kind of the theme of the last couple posts.
So it's definitely time for a life update.
So meet my son Miles:
He was born January 23 2019 via planned C-section.
Miles had a two vessel cord which means instead of two arteries and a vein he only had one artery and one vein.
The issue with this is that is that these babies may get decreased blood flow.
Decreased blood flow equates to a smaller baby.
So they monitored Miles a little extra to make sure he was growing properly.
On his last ultrasound (around 7.5 months) they decided they no longer needed to monitor him due to size because he was consistently above the 50th percentile
However, at this appointment they discovered he was breech.
He never flipped so we got to pick a birthday, and I picked 1-2-3 (Jan 23).
My operation went well and our beautiful boy came screaming into the world at 11:42 AM
(after being bumped twice to other laboring moms)
Shout out to those moms because that sounded awful and I never had to experience labor.
They placed him in my arms to wheel me into recovery and immediately something wasn't right.
He turned a blueish gray.
By the time we got to recovery they had already called the NICU.
They wheeled him up to monitor his oxygen for what was supposed to be a few hours but ended up being a week.
The hardest part had to be the ventilator.
Seeing your baby cry with no sound coming out because his mouth is taped up is awful
I don't wish that on anyone.
We were incredibly blessed that our stay was only a week and that our baby came home with us healthy and happy!
We took him home on his due date of Jan 30th!
I hope to do a more thorough post about our time in the NICU in the future!
