It's our third or maybe fourth year in a row going to Beaufort NC for Memorial Day Weekend.

Having a house there definitely helps the packed like sardines feeling

And taking a half day on Friday helped with the traffic.

 

We got to Beaufort in time to enjoy dinner at our favorite restaurant: The Spouter Inn

One of my favorite things to order there is the spinach and artichoke dip.

Yes, I know its the coast and they have crab dip, but the S&A dip is just so yummy!

For the second trip in a row I also got the stuffed flounder.

I eat fish as much as possible when I'm on the coast.

 

We left dinner in time to enjoy a beautiful sunset walk...

 

 

 

I even got Robert to stop and attempt to take photos with me.

Some dresses look great moving and not so great standing...

 

 

We stopped for drinks at the Dock House

While this is not my favorite place for food its a great location on the water

You can sit outside on either the first floor or second floor of their wrap around porch.

Order the painkiller!

They also have live music all the time!

 

 

 

And we woke up the next morning to try something new

The Beaufort Café.

This place has a traditional breakfast and its delicious!

 

 

My mom and step-dad own a house in Beaufort, NC so I spend a lot of time there.

It doesn't seem to matter how often I go, I'm always discovering new places.

This mother's day was also my step-dad's 60th birthday.

In honor of that we went to a restaurant called Aqua, nestled in a side street of downtown Beaufort.

 

 

My brother was able to join us for the occasion, along with my husband, of course.

 

We went to a wedding in Charlotte, NC this weekend

And I got basically zero pictures.

The church was stunning and I even wore one of my favorite dresses

And this blurry picture is the only proof that I was even there:

We stayed in Matthews, NC (right outside of Charlotte).

We thought we'd get breakfast, and instead of trucking back to Charlotte we'd check out what Matthews had to offer.

We used the Trip Advisor app and found a couple places that looked amazing

But me being partial to crepes chose

The Royal Café & Creperie.

 

It's in this darling area of Matthews with other small shops and restaurants.

It's pretty small and there are maybe 8 tables in the whole place.

Even their menu is plain:

 

 

Nothing to prepare me for the deliciousness that was about to ensue.

Instead of my normal latte, I ordered their house blend coffee

It did not disappoint.

 

 

I ordered the "Hamster" crepe which was egg, cheddar cheese, ham, and bacon.

Robert got the "El Rancho" crepe which had egg, cheddar cheese, Colby jack cheese blend, balck beans, sweet red onions, sour cream, and salsa!

Did I get a picture? No. I devoured that thing so fast I didn't even think about it!

 

I also really wished we could have ordered a dessert crepe but they were so big/ we were so full and there were already people waiting for tables at this point so we decided to hit the road!
