I got the brisket quesadilla and Robert got the brisket nachos and we split them

The nachos were amazing BUT

That quesadilla was the best quesadilla I have EVER had.

Blanket statement over all quesadillas!

They also had a drink (formally known as the pain killer)

That was AMAZING.

Highly recommend if you're walking back to the beach for a while.

 

3) Westbrook Brewing Company

I got a flight that included One Claw and White Tai which I enjoyed.

They are expanding too, if that tells you anything about their beers!

 

4) Stars

 

On Saturday night we went to Stars Restaurant and Rooftop Bar

I got the Pan-Seared Atlantic Salmon, Yukon Potato Puree, Bordelaise, Broccolini, Caponata

And the specialty cocktail: Southern Belle Bathwater

I did notice that Charleston is bachelorette capitol of the world

There were four bachelorette parties just in our restaurant.

We did take a brief walk up to the rooftop bar

If we were alone it would have been a cute place to drink and talk

But it wasn't very conducive to large groups.

 

5) Page's Okra Grill

 

We went to Page's for brunch and it was amazing.

Their website even says "Local Food for Local Folks"

So you know its some good cooking.

Robert got the buttermilk pancakes, I think that had blueberries in them.

I went for something I don't normally get:

Chicken and Waffles.

Were these ordinary chicken and waffles? NO.

They were filled with sausage, roasted corn, cheddar cheese and jalapeños.

It came with honey butter and some delicious fried chicken tenders

They were thin and crispy and perfect.

I got the side of cheese grits (four cheeses: cheddar, American, pepperjack, and swiss).

Needless to say I rolled out of that place.

 

 

 

 

 

My husband and I took a bike ride through the neighborhood

He loved that I made him take pictures of me on my new yellow cruiser

 

Clearly a beloved water activity companion

 

 

We did get a moment to ourselves for dinner

And grabbed pizza at the Queen Anne's Revenge

It's one of my favorite Beaufort restaurants

Try the BBQ Nachos  

 

We returned in time for a stroll along the beach before sunset...

 

 

Day 4 & 5: Kathryn comes to visit/ Dinner in Morehead

 

Tuesday and Wednesday were mostly beach/ lounging days

The rain finally subsided and we spent most of our time at the water's edge

 

My mom did come visit and had dinner Tuesday with us

and spent most of the day Wednesday with us

Apparently fires aren't allowed on the beaches... shhh don't tell

 

 

 

Day 7: Shackleford

 

 

On our final day we decided to go to Shackleford Banks

I had gone so many times before but NEVER on the ferry.

After finding the wrong ferry and barely missing the first boat

We finally got a spot on one of Island Ferry Adventures' boats.

It was $15 round trip and you got to pick your return time.

I'm attempting to catch up a little bit so I'm a lot little behind...

This year for Cinco de Mayo we did something a little different

Our friends Kelly and Garrett were moving to Colorado

So we decided to do a vegan Cinco de Mayo

As a sort of going away dinner

But first things first: we had to clean up the deck a little

We rented a power washer and spent the day cleaning the decks

        

Then we were ready to host!

I spruced up the set up with some decorative pillows:

And even pulled out some of my Lilly Pulitzer and Lilly Pulitzer for Target items

We had an excellent (mostly) vegan meal

Because some of us drew the line at "cheese-less"

The beer margaritas were flowing

and I couldn't think of a better way to say goodbye to a part of team New Bern

As I approached my 25th birthday I knew I wanted to do something different

I usually do a dinner out at one of my favorite restaurants 

But this year I wanted it to be a little more special

So I combined my favorite things:

Lilly Pulitzer, food, and drinks!

I already had a set of plates that are surprisingly durable 

So I didn't have a problem buying two more sets to complete the mix matched look!

They are just so cute!

I also made my girl scout cookie samoa cake, but this time cupcakes

And I made a two layer version with the frosting as filling and a buttercream frosting

In my best rendition of HPFI

I won't be decorating cakes for a living any time soon...

And as always I had to have some lilies

And they're still blooming a week later

I also got a reunion with half my bridesmaids too

And the MOH wore Lilly of course in the blue Let's Cha Cha Pattern

My top is called the Iona Sleeveless Silk Shell in Resort White Crossed Lions

It's still available!

It was a great birthday present to me thanks to some gift cards from Christmas! 

                                         

I had a great party

And I'm super happy with how all my Lilly stuff turned out.

Good morning!

Its a snow day here in NC

Even my building closed and that (as I've been told) NEVER happens.

I could just lay around all day watching the Bachelor and drinking coffee:              

                                        

But instead I opted to check some things off my list!

I put some mail in packages but I can't leave the house to mail it

so that wasn't really a check…

Then my super bright popover reminded me:

Hence my project of the day: DIY Lilly Pulitzer Coasters

I found the instructions on the link above but I have my own shortened version below:

2) The first step I took was to cut out the Lilly print. I made sure to cut the square a little bit smaller than the top of the tile. These tiles have rough edges and the paper won't stick to an edge that's missing.

3) Next I wiped off the tiles to make sure there was no dust then laid them out on my plastic sheet. 

4) Once I removed the cat from the situation I was able to begin. I put Mod Podge on the tile and laid the paper square on top of this. I made sure to rub out any bubbles or wrinkles. Then let it sit for 10-15 minutes until completely dry. 

5) Once the Mod Podge has dried completely it's time to put a layer on top of the tile. Make sure you brush in one direction only. I do thin layers to avoid build up. This is also a good time to check for bubbles/ ridges. Let it dry until its no longer sticky. 

6) Layer the Mod Podge as much as needed. A couple coats was good for me. I made my last coat a little thicker just in case.
